Chances are if you have insomnia and watch late-night TV, you’ve probably seen Kevin Trudeau trying to sell you something. You’re too smart for that of course, but 25 million Americans weren’t, reports the Daily Mail.

Kevin Trudeau has reportedly made millions out of duping the American public into buying his life-enhancing (and purportedly life-saving) products … which is funny considering Trudeau has no medical training and a few criminal convictions, according to the Daily Mail. But, the FTC has been diligently working over a decade to bring Trudeau – and his false claims – to justice.

In 2010, federal district Judge Gettleman entered a $37 million penalty against Trudeau, later upheld by the Seventh Circuit. Failing to pay a dime, last month Trudeau was found in contempt. Now, ABC reports, Judge Gettleman has granted “a court-appointed receiver broad authority to marshal assets and take over businesses” controlled by Trudeau. If Trudeau doesn’t cooperate, Judge Gettleman has threatened jail time.

Judge Gettleman has granted the receiver extensive leeway to seize assets in the U.S. and abroad. FTC attorneys stated in a motion: Because the Court did not incarcerate Trudeau, he has no incentive to put forth genuine cooperation." The FTC anticipates that Trudeau will continue to create obstacles, such as putting assets in his wife’s name, to elude seizure.

Feigning compliance, Kevin Trudeau stated: “I want to be 100 percent cooperative … I want to wash my hands of this. I want to put this behind me,” reports ABC.

We’re hoping he means it this time.
