Making it abundantly clear that on the High Court, Justice Sotomayor is unquestionably the coolest Justice, she explained to an audience at Cornell that she prefers bourbon over beer, and jazz over opera. Sadly, she also explained that none of her SCOTUS colleagues will go listen to jazz with her.
And along with letting all the students see just how awesome she is, Justice Sotomayor encouraged everyone in the audience to be involved in making their communities better places.
When Justice Sotomayor was asked to give the women in the audience advice on how to advance in the legal field given the challenges of today, she explained that “We have only one option in this world, and that’s to keep on trying.”
This past September, while promoting her newest book, Sotomayor told the audience how she was a big fan of comic books. And further shattering stereotypes and expectations, told a story about how she was confronted over the cover of her latest book showing her walking up the stairs to the Supreme Court in High Heels. When told that SCOTUS justices don’t wear high heels, she quickly retorted: Latina Supreme Court Justices do!

Justice Sotomayor has been making frequent appearances over last few months to promote her new book, Turning Pages.
